God is Mending You in the Sending

Have you ever walked into something new with great expectation, only to discover it came with not only the blessings you anticipated, but also challenges you never planned for?

Well... that happened to me.

I have been blessed with a beautiful marriage. My husband and I celebrated two years together just a few weeks ago. What many people don't know, however, is that those two years are also the only two years we've known each other.

We had our very first casual encounter in March of 2024 with absolutely no romantic interest in one another. Then, by June of 2024, we were married.

I already know you probably have a thousand questions swirling around in your mind.

"How is that possible?"

"Do they even know each other?"

"Married already? What about courting? The engagement?"

To answer a few of those questions—yes, we courted for fifteen days, got engaged, and were married within twenty-three days.

One day we'll share our full testimony in greater detail, but for now... that's all you get.

Today, I'm here to share a piece of my testimony and remind you of something the Lord spoke so deeply to my heart:

God is mending you in the sending.

Two years ago, I moved to Illinois in obedience to serve God and His people.

I came in faith to serve. Although, I had believed God for marriage, I trusted God's timing because I knew He had plans to prosper me and give me an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). I was no longer waiting bitterly—I had been delivered into waiting expectantly. My heart had shifted from longing for my own desires to seeking Him first and fulfilling the assignments He had prepared for me.

I am a Levite, so when I moved, I was positioned on the worship team at my home church. My relationship with the Holy Spirit had grown to a place where nothing mattered more than pleasing my Heavenly Father. Putting a smile on His face became my greatest desire.

I trusted that He held my life in His hands. I am His daughter, and I need not want for anything. Time and time again, He proved that to be true.

Wherever He sent me, I served. Wherever He led me, I obeyed. And in those places of obedience, I always found the harvest He had prepared for me. What looked like lack to others was abundance in the eyes of my God.

For that season—and everything it produced in me—I will forever be grateful.

Not long after a few assignments had been completed, the Lord opened the door to marriage.

As I shared, I met my husband, and we connected almost immediately. We both knew God was writing our story. So, in faith, we leaped. We became one flesh in honor of Abba Father and the promise He had so graciously spoken over our lives.

Now... you know the enemy wasn't happy about that.

While heaven rejoiced over our union, hell began to rage.

Unfortunately, that battle didn't stay outside our home.

The shaking began to infiltrate my mind, and before long, it reached my heart and my home.

I found myself slipping into a place of lack. My faith felt shaken. My thoughts became clouded by accusation, fear, and lies from the enemy. Every day felt heavier than the one before.

There were many moments when all I could do was scream, cry, and trust that God could still hear me.

The battlefield became overwhelming.

The voices of accusation became louder than the voice of truth.

Eventually, I reached a place where I simply gave up—or at least I thought I had.

I felt like I was losing my identity.

My peace was slipping away.

I began fearing God's voice instead of trusting it. I could no longer discern what was God, what was the enemy, and what was simply the opinions of people.

The shaking didn't stop in my home.

It even reached my church family.

That's when something inside of me began to rise.

The Spirit of God sounded an alarm within me that literally awakened me from the darkness I had been trapped in. Where exhaustion had lulled me into spiritual sleep, the Holy Spirit called me awake.

I began declaring over myself the words found in Mark chapter 5:

"I will be found seated, clothed, and in my right mind."

I declared it again.

And again.

And again.

I trusted God that the mental torment was coming to an end.

That the wrestle in my soul would not last forever.

Scripture tells us there is an ongoing war between the flesh and the Spirit, and for far too long I had allowed my flesh to lead the fight.

I wasn't drawing strength from the Holy Spirit.

I was fighting in my own strength.

I had been running on fumes for far too long.

But God.

He took my faith—even though it was no bigger than a mustard seed—and He began shifting my story.

The shift happened immediately in the spirit, but it took months for my mind to catch up.

Why?

Because I had to do the work of renewing my mind with the Word of God.

I had to return to the way of Truth instead of abiding in fear.

I had to reconnect to the Vine.

I had to drink from the well that never runs dry.

I had to wash again in the river of Living Water.

There was work I had to rise up and do, and I could not quit.

Even when the enemy circled back with lies and accusations, I had to remain steadfast in the love and mercy of God.

Psalm 103 reminds us that He crowns us with steadfast love and mercy. Then it continues by saying that He satisfies us with good so that our youth is renewed like the eagle's.

What a promise.

The word the Lord gave me—"I will be found seated, clothed, and in my right mind"—became the beginning of the "good" He was satisfying me with.

Little by little, He began revealing His mending power in the sending.

When He opened the door to marriage, He already knew it wouldn't be as easy as I imagined.

But through it all, His Son was interceding for me.

Praying that my faith would not fail.

And that's what I want to leave with you today.

There were moments when I believed my faith had failed.

There were moments when I thought I had disappointed God.

But His perspective was completely different from mine.

While I thought I was falling apart, He was faithfully completing the good work He had begun in me—and He is still completing it today.

There were old habits that needed to die.

Old thought patterns that needed to be uprooted.

Old versions of me that couldn't follow me into this new assignment.

God was shaping me into the woman, wife, and mother He was calling me to become.

He began healing the little girl within me in a brand-new place.

A brand-new season.

A brand-new assignment.

Even now, He continues to refresh me.

He restores my hope daily.

He mends my heart while He continues to send me.

So as you read this, my prayer is that you recognize God's hand in your own story.

May you see that even while He is sending you into new places, He is also mending the places within you that still need healing.

As you remain a willing vessel, He will continue molding you into the man or woman of God He predestined you to be.

Trust His process.

Trust His timing.

Trust His heart.

And above all...

Never lose your faith in Him.

Let's pray;

Father, thank You for never abandoning us in the places You've called us to. Thank You that while You're sending us into new assignments, You're also healing the hidden places of our hearts. Strengthen the weary, restore the broken, renew our minds, and teach us to trust You through every season. May our faith never fail because our eyes remain fixed on You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The place God sends you may reveal what still needs healing—but don't mistake the revelation for rejection. He's simply mending you in the sending.
